Day Trips - Hanoi

PD 01 : Ba Vi National Park Approx. 65 US$ per person (2 to 3 pax)
The three peaks of magnificent Ba Vi Mountain, only 60 km from Hanoi, offer a spectacular view of the Red River Delta. The primeval rain forest of Ba Vi National Park boasts a wide range of flora and fauna. This is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of Hanoi and is easily accessible.

Ha Long Bay, located in the Gulf of Tonkin, covers an area of 1500 square km. With more than a thousand limestone peaks soaring from its crystalline emerald water this area is one of the natural wonders of Vietnam and now one of four World Heritage listed sites in Vietnam. Visitors have constantly marveled at Halong Bays natural beauty. The tiny islands are dotted with innumerable beaches and grottoes created by the wind and the waves that make a excellent backdrop for swimming or just lazing about on the boat deck.

Hoa Binh is only 2 hours from Hanoi. This province is home to the Hmong, Muong, Dzao and Thai ethnic minorities. The area has changed a lot since the largest hydropower plant in Southeast Asia was built here, turning the Da River into a lake. Still, even today the province boasts some of Vietnams most beautiful scenery.

Hoa Lu, 100 km south of Hanoi, was the capital city of Vietnam under the Dinh Dynasty between AD 968 and AD 980. Some of the sanctuaries and tombs have survived the countless years and can still be visited today. Apart from the historical aspects, the area is also one of astounding natural beauty with limestone peaks whose splendor is often said to surpass that of Ha Long Bay. It is true that this area is often referred to as the Ha Long Bay on land. The tour includes being rowed along the Boi River, which makes for a truly unforgettable experience, passing between towering limestone peaks.
PD 16 : Perfume Pagoda (Chua Huong) Approx. 57 US$ per person (2 to 3 pax)
The Perfume Pagoda is one of the highlights of the Hanoi area and one of the most important religious sites in Buddhist Vietnam. Every spring, after the Vietnamese New Year, thousands of Vietnamese pilgrims come here to pray for all the health and prosperity they need to get them through the year. The pagoda itself is built into limestone cliffs and can only be reached by boat and foot, as there are no roads into this area. You will glide along scenic waterways and walk up steep mountain paths visiting the pagodas and temples that were built in this area over the last centuries.

This tour is for those people who wish to simply relax without having to rush from one place to another. The French as a holiday resort built tam Dao, 80 km from Hanoi, in the beginning of this century for the well to do. It is situated north west of Hanoi at an elevation of almost 1000m. Because of this the temperature remains a pleasant and comfortable level year round. These days Tam Dao is popular with day-trippers from Hanoi who wish to escape the stress of city life for a day or two.

PD 12 : Hoi An Approx. 68 US$ per person (2 to 3 pax)
From the 16th to 18th centuries, Hoi An was a thriving international commercial port for Chinese, Dutch, French, Japanese, and Portuguese and Arab traders. These people came to trade primarily for the high grade silk, which is still produced in the area, and ceramics. Today, Hoi An is a quaint riverside town popular among tourists for its eclectic architecture, souvenir and tailor shops, and cafes.
PD 14 : Mountain Ba Na Hill Station Approx. 68 US$ per person (2 to 3 pax)
Ba Na is located 1,480 meters above sea level, in the Truong Son mountain range, two hours by road from Danang. Ba Na is home to a former French resort built in the early 1920s, which once boasted 200 villas, restaurants, and clubs. Its temperate climate, unspoiled forest, and spectacular views over the South China Sea and the Lao mountain range made Ba Na a popular place to retreat for the French and wealthy Vietnamese.

My Son is a former capital of the ancient Cham civilization that ruled in the central Vietnam area between the second century and the thirteenth century. Hinduism from India heavily influenced these peoples religion. Located 60 km. from Danang, My Son is considered to be one of the best-preserved Cham structures in Vietnam.

Tay Ninh, near the Cambodian border, is home to the headquarters of the unique Cao Dai sect, whose patron saints include Joan of Arc, Victor Hugo and Winston Churchill to name a few. The religion is a odd mix of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism and Christianity. The Cao Dai Temple at Tay Ninh has been described as a Walt Disney fantasia of the East and has to be seen to be believed.

Traditional transportation in the Delta is by boat along a vast network of canals and channels. Early morning departure by coach to Cai be Floating Market. Enjoy a 3-hour boat trip through the canals, passing rice fields, islands with fruit orchards, houses built on the water.
